TUESDAY

Tuesday practice - have your wrestler weigh in and give you his weight. If he is in middle school find out if he is going to wrestle with the Duals team or the Tournament Team that week-end. If he is wrestling with the Tournament Team then continue reading this page. If he is going to wrestle in the duals event then exit this page and click onto the Document "A Normal Duals Tournament Week as a Wrestling Parent".

Tuesday night - go on line and register your son for the next tournament using the www.teamgeorgiawrestling.com website. You will use this site to register for every tournament (excluding Middle School Duals). Please familiarize yourself with this site. ** Remember to try and sign up at least two weeks out to ensure you never miss the opportunity to get into the event. REMEMBER to print out your E-Ticket at the time of registration and again if you change his weight. Keep this in a safe place to make sure you remember to take it with you on Saturday you may be required to have it at weigh-ins. If you happen to forget to print it you can log back in and print one. Also print the flier listed for the corresponding tournament so you have all the necessary information. Go to http://www.teamgeorgiawrestling.com/documents then scroll down until you find the right tournament.

THURSDAY

Thursday night - have your wrestling weigh in again and tell you his weight. If he is over what the weight you registered him at and cannot loose to make that weight class then go back on line BEFORE 9:45 PM and change his weight class. Same if he lost enough weight to go down a weight class go in and move him down so he is not wrestling against kids that weight much more than he does. Be sure to reprint his new E-Ticket with the new weight. ALL CHANGES MUST BE COMPLETE AND ARE FINAL BY 9:45 ON THURSDAY.

FRIDAY

Friday - Go to Trackwrestling.com (at the beginning of the season make sure your child has a trackwrestling ID #. You can check for his number or create one directly from this site) (go to sign up, as a trackwrestling member, search, type in name, if number choose and verify info and team name (South Paulding Junior Spartans, if no number then create a profile for your child) On this site type in the tournament name, then click on go, then click enter tournament, then under your sons division select his weigh class and click view bracket. Once you are able to view the bracket either print a copy to take with you or write down the the mat number, gym number and first match number. If you are able to print a copy this will be invaluable for you to be able to follow where he should be, what match number, and who his opponent will be each round. If you need any assistance learning how to keep up with the bracket ask one of your team leaders to help you until you better understand.

Friday night - Come to practice to get final touches if you are scheduled to do so based on our practice schedule. If Friday night weigh-ins are available for the next days event then you must let the coach know you are worried about making weight and need to weigh-in if you plan to go. NOTE: I do not want this to be a habit for the Veterans. Friday night practices are vital to be ready mentally for Saturday for a lot of the wrestlers, especially the veterans.

SATURDAY

What to wear
Wear your singlet under your clothes to the tournament. There may not be a place close to weigh-ins for your wrestler to change when he gets there and there will be a lot of people there so it will be better to go prepared.

Have your wrestler cut nails before going to weigh ins.

If hair touches eyebrows a hair net or cap is required. Coach Byers would prefer a clean cut if possible but not absolute.

Weigh-ins
****Make sure you take a copy of your USA Card with you to the tournament. Your child will need it in hand at weigh ins. If you forget it you will have made the trip for nothing because they will not let him in to wrestle without this card (no exceptions to this rule).****

If you lose your card, user name and/or password you can contact juniorspartans@bellsouth.net for assistance, Spartan team members only or support@teamgeorgiawrestling.com.

****Make sure you take your E-ticket with you. It is possible they may not require your this, but play it safe and take it! We require both at our tournament. If there are any discrepancies on his registration when you get there this is all the proof you will need.****

Friday night weigh-ins are usually 6:00-8:00.(best to check fliers to verify each week)
Saturday Morning 6U, 8U, 10U weigh-ins 7:00-7:30 arrive by 6:30
Saturday Afternoon 12U, 14U 11:30-12:00 arrive by 11:00

Get there early! Weigh-in lines get long and will be cut off if necessary when close to time for weigh-ins to end. NO ONE WILL BE ACCEPTED LATE. DO NOT TEST IT! Wait until you weigh-in to eat breakfast.

Remember if you are even 1 ounce over your registered weight you will be scratched from the tournament. Meaning you will not be allowed to wrestle and you will be sent home. If you are close on weight my suggestion is to postpone eating anything until after you step on the scales then eat right after you weigh-in so your food has time to settle before wrestling begins (you will have at least 30 mins to 1 hour before they start wrestling, but DO NOT leave the gym)

Parents are NOT allowed in the weigh-in room. Send the card and e-ticket in with your wrestler so he does not have to get back in the end of the line if he has to come get his stuff from you.

Check Scales
Check scales are always available right outside the weigh-in room. Remind your wrestler to step on the check scale first to ensure he is going to make weight. Once you enter the official weigh-in area you can not leave. If he is over weight follow your coach's advise prior to entering the official weigh in area but make sure you enter before weigh ins close.

Once weighed in let your coaches know that everything is complete and where you are sitting. Find your coaches once it is time to warm up. Wear only Spartan gear. If you do not have it yet, then stick to straight black with no writing.

Warm up
Watch for the coaches to call the kids to the mat to start warming up as a team before the tournament begins usually around 8 am and as mats clear for afternoon session.

Diet for the day
Wrestlers diet for the day of the tournament should be light with no greasy heavy foods or soft drinks. If possible bring some Peanut Butter sandwiches, fruits, cereal bars, waters, powerades, etc. DO NOT EAT PIZZAS, HAMBURGERS, HEAVY FOODS, HEAVY SWEETS, etc... These foods will only drag you down and hurt your performance.

The Tournaments are long bring snacks & something to occupy any younger siblings if necessary (dvd players, movies, blankets, games, coloring books, etc).

Be prepared to pay the admission fee for parents and siblings at the door (cash)

Brackets
Be sure to find your son's bracket on the wall. Hopefully you printed out his bracket for your personal use on the trackwrestling website on Friday evening as mentioned above. Many tournament directors update the wall brackets each round. If they do, then watch them carefully. Table workers do make mistakes sometimes and can accidentally have the wrong kid advancing. Whether you are watching your own personal copy or the copy on the wall if you see a mistake with your wrestler...tell a Coach immediately! Mistakes can usually be repaired before the next match is incorrectly wrestled but is often hard to do so if the match has already happened.

THREE IMPORTANT RULES
1. Parents are NEVER allowed on the mat to coach or beside the mat to coach.
a. Please refer to the (PARENTS) Matches/Tournaments section in our Parent Contract.

2. Parents are NEVER to badger the referee. Referees will make at least ten to twenty bad calls in your wrestler's lifetime. So get ready for it. They are human and not robots. They will not always get it right. BUT, leave it up to the coach on the mat to decide how far he is willing to push the referee. You adding to his anger at the referee only doubles the chance someone is getting tossed out.

3. NO one on the team can leave the tournament until the entire team leaves.
a. If you have an issue then please see the Head Coach with the team for that day.

SUNDAY

Sunday Beginners
Check out your fliers for weigh-in times. Be there early and follow the same rules for weigh-ins as above. Weigh-in times are not early and are not staggered by age groups.

MONDAY

Go onto Trackwrestling.com the same way you did to print the brackets on Friday. This time the bracket should be complete (except for beginners tournaments) It should show you 1st through 4th place. Find your child and make sure everything about his matches is correct (winners, scores, pin times). If they are not correct then send a request for corrections to the tournament director listed on the flier for that tournament. Emailing Team Georgia will not get this corrected. If after one week your have not received a response they email your request to support@teamgeorgiawrestling and copy to Coach Byers at juniorspartans@bellsouth.net.

STATE QUALIFIER TOURNAMENT

If your child Places 1st at the State Qualifier tournament you will receive a BIO Sheet at the tournament by the tournament director or Coach Byers that will need to be returned to the Coach via email or hand delivered by that night no later than 11pm . This is where the trackwrestling info will come in handy!!!

You have to wait until all of the remaining 5 qualifiers have finished on Saturday night. Then go onto trackwrestling to look up each qualifier and see who won first place in each of them for your sons weight class. Only the first place winners will need a BIO Sheet because they are the only ones to be considered for the top 8 seeding positions.

Then you will have to put together a win loss sheet on the bottom of the bio sheet based on your wrestler matches versus the other winners.

If you have a list of who they won or loss to as a whole then that helps too. A complete record helps if tow wrestler have never seen each other but have wrestler a same common opponent. This can be done by going to trackwrestling and pulling up past tournaments then looking at the finished brackets.

Seeding is handled in this way: https://www.teamgeorgiawrestling.com/qfs/2012%20State%20Tournament%20Seeding.pdf

For the remaining wrestlers that finished 2nd, 3rd or 4th in their state qualifying tournaments you will have qualified to go to state and will be placed according to the rules listed in the link above.

If he is wrestling with the Tournament Team then exit this page and click onto the Document "A Normal Tournament Week as a Wrestling Parent". If he is on the Duals Team then continue reading this page.

Tuesday night – Make sure your wrestler understands the weight class he is to wrestle at for the duals event that week-end. Often we will wrestle an event for duals on Saturday and then another on Sunday. They are never the same weight classes. Make sure He knows what he is to weigh each day.

THURSDAY

Thursday night - have your wrestling weigh in again and tell you his weight. You will need to bring your $15 in to pay for the entry fee for the tournament. If there are two events that week-end then you will need to bring in $30. If you have not already signed out a Middle School Duals Singlet for your son you will need to do so during this practice. If your son is presently on the team and looses his spot on the duals team on any given Tuesday then he will be required to return the singlet on Thursday. Should he win his spot back then he will again need to have you sign the singlet back out.

FRIDAY

Friday – Practices are mandatory for all Duals Tournament Team Members every Friday. NO EXCEPTIONS! If you have a serious complication on a particular day then see or call Coach Byers. You will receive all final instructions on times for events for up coming week-end during this practice.

Friday night – Eat Healthy, Eat light. If they are too close on weight then be careful. They will be weighing in early Saturday Morning anyway so don't let them blow it. They will not only be causing the you as a parent to drive a long way for nothing but their not making weight will cause a hole to be in our line-up and a hole costs us to loose 6 points to the other team every time their turn comes up.

SATURDAY
